Anonymous Sudan Claims Responsibility for DDoS Attack Causing Cloudflare Website Outage
On November 9 at 17:19 EST, the group Anonymous Sudan asserted responsibility for the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack that caused the temporary outage of Cloudflare's www.cloudflare.com. Cloudflare has confirmed the DDoS attack but did not attribute it to any specific threat actor.
According to Cloudflare, the attack solely affected the website and did not disrupt their wider range of products or services. A company spokesperson assured that no customers were impacted by the incident.
The company clarified that their website operates on separate infrastructure, ensuring it doesn't affect their services. They reiterated that their website remains fully functional.
Additionally, the group claimed responsibility for a series of attacks, including one on OpenAI's ChatGPT bot and others impacting Microsoft's services in June. While the group purports to target entities involved in Sudanese politics, some analysts suspect a potential false flag, linking the group to Russia instead.
